Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary Vaynerchuk
Co-founder, VaynerMedia

Already considered a quintessential maven of modern-day marketing, Gary Vaynerchuk is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author as well as a self-trained wine and social media expert. In high school, while working at his family owned liquor store, Gary started reading The Wine Spectator among other wine books and realized collecting wine offered an allure similar to his previous hobby of collecting baseball cards. With a newfound wealth of knowledge, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a clear recognition of the emergence of e-commerce in 1997, Gary launched Winelibrary.com and helped grow his family business from $3 million to $45 million by 2005. Although Gary does not consider himself to be a ‘techie’, in 2005, he began video blogging and established himself as a true social media trailblazer. Gaining nearly 1 million Twitter followers, Gary was included in BusinessWeek’s list of the “top 20 people every entrepreneur should follow.”

Gary’s first business book Crush It! Why Now Is the Time to Cash in on Your Passion (October 2009) hit the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Associated Press Best-Sellers lists in its first weeks. It maps out Gary’s road rules for how to “Crush It” in today’s business market by following your passion and building your own personal brand. His second New York Times bestseller The Thank You Economy (March 2011), details the effect of social media on business and has become required reading for business leaders around the world. In the spring of 2009, Gary and his brother AJ launched VaynerMedia, a new breed of agency that helps Fortune 500 companies like General Electric, PepsiCo, Green Mountain Coffee, the NY Jets and the Brooklyn Nets find their social media voices and build their digital brands.

Susan Bennett

Susan Bennett
The Voice of Siri

Susan Bennett, shocked the tech world just a few short weeks ago when she was revealed as the iconic voice behind Apple’s Siri, the iPhone persona who helped Zooey Deschanel identify the sound of rain and Samuel L. Jackson find organic mushrooms for his risotto. She has a storyline on "The Big Bang Theory" and makes the seemingly far-fetched premise of Spike Jonze's upcoming film "Her," about a man who falls in love with the voice of his phone's operating system, not so unbelievable.

Since the reveal, Susan, a well acclaimed voice over actress, has been the focus of global media appearing on everything from CNN, to daytime talk shows to doing the Top 10 List on David Letterman.

"More than anyone else, Siri is the voice of the new digital age," Robert J. Thompson, a professor of popular culture at Syracuse University told the LA Times. "As communication became more and more text- and picture-based, Siri actually talked. She was comforting, maybe a little seductive, and immediately recognizable - and she penetrated every corner of the culture, from late-night comedians to sitcoms. The fact that her futuristic machine-voice was actually generated by a living, breathing human being is fascinating for obvious reasons."

You’ve more than likely heard Susan’s voice on a number of commercials and productions as one of the most active voice-over artists working with such clients at Ford, Coca-Cola, Fisher Price, McDonald’s, The Home Depot, Goodyear, VISA, Macy’s, Club Med, Delta Airlines, and The Cartoon Network.

Check out her recent CNN interview here.

Come meet ‘Siri’ at this year’s Internet Summit in Raleigh!
