John Roberts

John Roberts
President, Third Floor Productions

When reality dashed his hopes of obtaining employment as a Ghostbuster, John Roberts turned to option number two: film. From seemingly having a camera glued to his hands and turning his friends into actors and crew to starting his own business, Third Floor Productions, John has ventured into the business side of film production and has made it a point to remember the reason he got into film making back when he used his paper route money to buy his first camera: because it’s fun. For example, although he earned an Award of Excellence from the National Television Academy of Arts and Sciences in the Category of Arts and Entertainment, you’re more likely to hear him talk about his being named “Funniest Student in 8th Grade” (or, even more probably, about how he was robbed of the same honor as a high school senior, only being named “Second Funniest”). And though Third Floor works on projects with clients ranging from brands to ad agencies to TV networks, it’s more likely that he’ll want show you a clip from the humorous cable access show he wrote, directed, and produced in high school than he would the campaigns he created for National Geographic Channel. As Third Floor continues to progress as a business and a creative entity, John clings to hope that at year’s end he might be voted “Funniest Person” in his own company.
